No Shame In Jesus
No Shame In Jesus

What we are shamed to accept we must remain shamed to keep. There is a large portion of the body of Christ who were shamed into accepting Christ. They were told they were worthless and unacceptable to God. They believed it. It was a lie. The moment you feel like you have to prove your worth to someone is the moment you need to walk away.
It never dawned on these precious people that God so “loved” them that He sent His only Son just for them. When God so loves you that He gives up His Son to be slaughtered by self-righteous hypocrites for your guilt, setting you forever free and guiltless, you are anything “but” worthless and unacceptable. You are the apple of God’s eye!
Many people have walked the aisle of church, after church, in revival service, after revival service, scared of Hell, and shamed by what a wretch the message from the man of God declared them to be. When shame is used as a tool of pressuring people into accepting Christ, that same shame must continue to be heaped on their lives to keep their continued allegiance to the rules of God and organized religion.
What a tragedy this is to the glorious New Covenant legacy of a God who “so loved” that He died for us all. Messengers of religion use shame as their primary tool to pressure people into accepting what they already have. Messengers of the Good News joyously proclaim what Grace has deposited into our account. Every day we can wake up – rise up – and start spending it. Jesus became wrong so that we could be made right. Jesus forgave us, Jesus loved us, and Jesus sacrificed “everything” so that we could literally skip into the throne room of Papa God and climb right up onto His lap. Shame is not needed to draw anyone to Jesus, and shame is not needed to keep anyone in His glorious arms. Grace made us perfectly His a long time ago.
Shame is a tool of Hell. It is the tool of faithless tyrants, and illegitimate leaders who reign in fear of losing their power over others. The same as the multitudes left the teaching of the religious Pharisees to follow Jesus and thus, inflamed the anger of religion, so it will be when this inclusive Jesus is lifted high for the entire world to see.
Angels danced the day you were born, not just the day you were born again. The very breath that fills your lungs is living evidence of the presence of the kiss of God on your life and destiny. Be not ashamed, for the One who is perfect has given you His full approval. He has died in your place so that you could walk forever free of the guilt of sin and shame. Step around anyone proclaiming to the contrary.
There will be no deep breath of freedom in our lives until we see the smiling face of Jesus and fully accept that it is His great love that has paved the road between our former life of sin and death into the presence of abundant life and joy. The debt is paid in full. If we were loved and accepted in a moment when we couldn’t have cared less, how much more are we treasured now that Jesus has satisfied the Law on our behalf, and carried us gently to the arms of His Papa?
Lift “this” Jesus high and He will open His heart and arms to draw “all” all people into His loving embrace. Religion uses shame as a means of making us come into its cage. It tells us that by doing so we have come to Jesus. Shaming people to walk away from their darkness in no way points them to the light. It brings more darkness and continues to shame us as a means of locking the cage door to the absolute freedom in Jesus that lies beyond its rule and boundaries.
Jesus comes in love to set the captives free, and he whom the Son sets free is FREE, indeed!
