In The Pause
By: Danny Wallace
In the pursuit of happiness it would serve us well to pause occasionally to just be happy. Chasing happiness is like chasing a summer breeze. It is impossible to catch, and even more impossible to experience while in pursuit. It is only when we cease our pursuit that we become overwhelmed by a powerful truth. The breeze finds us. It touches us the deepest when we stop trying to catch it, and pause to take it in.
So it is with happiness. We are searching for what cannot be found. Happiness is not a place or a thing. We can’t reach it, and no person can give it to us. It is the gentle breeze that always finds the grateful heart.
The breeze is always moving. It is the same with the happiness we seek. A grateful heart is still, and content. Contentment always brings a pause. In the pause – happiness finds us.
