Truth and Love Are One

Ephesians 4:15 is one of the most misunderstood scriptures in the New Testament. It reads, “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
When we remain aligned with and indoctrinated to, moral Law, we stand on a foundationally false concept. We come to believe that “Truth” and “Love” are two separate issues. Believing this, Ephesians 4:15 is taught, received, and thought as, “We must speak the truth while making sure to speak that truth in love.”
Regarding truth and love, religious Law offers a false concept. God “is” love. It is not an attribute of His personality – it is who He is without exception. God represents truth in every aspect of His being.
Ephesians 4:15 admonishes us to love, nothing more, and nothing less. The “truth” is found in love. What this vastly misunderstood scripture is saying is no different. We are to speak the truth “inside” of love. In other words, we are, to tell the truth, that exists inside the very heart of love. Otherwise, the scripture takes on the theological implication that the fact of truth is something contrary to love, but we must exercise love when sharing this different concept. This false, religious interpretation defies everything that Jesus died to provide to the entire world.
Far too many people try to mold Jesus back into Old Covenant agreement. That is impossible. Though the Old Covenant makes clear the glory of the Christ to come, God shelved it long ago and there it remains. Jesus lives in the beauty of a New Covenant – a Covenant of far better promises than the Old.
