Culture Of Hate
Culture Of Hate
By: Danny Wallace
Social media is a relatively new phenomenon that has swept the world during the past decade. Social media fuses technology with social interaction via Internet-based applications that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content. It has been both, a “blessing,” and a massive disaster.
Over that same period, the suicide rate among adults and teens alike has risen dramatically. Suicide is a considerable public health problem; more than 30 000 suicide deaths in the United States and nearly 1 million suicide deaths worldwide occur every year. The recent increase in highly publicized cases of death by suicide that involve a connection to social media has drawn national attention to this topic.
I believe that the Internet is the spiritual body of anti-Christ. It is the closest the son of perdition will ever come to omnipresence. The Internet has provided a place for the spirit of anti-Christ to speak through many people. Think about it. There will never be a person adored and followed by everyone. That is impossible.
Nevertheless, there is an entity supported by all. It has many heads and speaks with many conflicting voices. It is the Internet.
1 John 2:18 “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.”
People seek advice from the Internet on a moment-by-moment basis. This information is given in every language, to every person, in every country around the world. The Internet is accessed from a multitude of personal devices, each cherished by modern citizens. The information provided via the Internet is a quagmire of verified, and unverified information. The accuracy of the information submitted and downloaded from the Internet is unmonitored and proven to be mostly false.
I also believe that the spirit of anti-Christ rests in the various social media apps and websites existing via the Internet. Social media platforms, such as chat rooms, blogging Web sites (e.g., BlogSpot), video sites (e.g., YouTube), social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Google+), and electronic bulletin boards or forums, as well as e-mail, text messaging, and video chat, have transformed traditional methods of communication by allowing the instantaneous and interactive sharing of information created and controlled by individuals, groups, organizations, and governments.
The rapid escalation of hopelessness and suicide among many people around the world has been proven to be directly tied to the culture of hate these social media platforms venomously spew forth like toxic vomit on a daily basis. This poison is not particular. It spews from Jew and Gentile with equal disregard for accuracy or consequence.
I will have much more to come on this subject. For now, you and I can contribute to the problem, or we can become a part of the solution. A person claiming to speak on behalf of the heart of Christ should never speak, post, share, or advertise an idea, thought, or proclamation that we could not swear to under oath in Federal Court.
All second-hand information should die in the second hand. “I heard, but I don’t know personally,” is nothing more than venomous poison from Lucifer’s lips. “I didn’t say it, I just shared it,” is a lie on every level. If I shared it – I said it. If I like it – I said it.
It is time for many Christians to own the fact that we perpetuate the Culture of Hate via the anti-Christ of social media every single day. It is a time that we must acknowledge it – step away from it – and flood social media with the noble heart of Jesus.
We cannot post slander one minute and expect a follow-up post of “I LOVE YOU JESUS!!!!!!” to repair the damage, or cover the wickedness. Jesus came with better, and we have so much better to give.
