The Choice Is Ours
The Choice Is Ours
By: Danny Wallace
Jesus has set us free, but we go where we choose in the vast infinity of that freedom. When the cage door opens, and a bird is set free, there is no weight tied to its leg, or GPS programmed into its wings. A free bird flies on the winds of freedom by the winged coordinance of it’s choosing. Whether we soar the open skies or plummet to the mud holes of degradation, the full honor of liberty is in owning the choice of our destiny.
Every single day of our lives we greet the morning in complete control of our destiny. We can choose to be grateful, or we can labor in ungratefulness. The right choices are not implanted into our Christian DNA. We are not robot slaves – we are free children of the Most-High God We can walk the high road of blessing, or flounder in the slanderous mud of life’s road. The choice is ours. God doesn’t choose for us, nor does He force us to walk the high road of joy that His sacrifice, so painfully purchased. We get to choose every time.
Our choice is our only real point of power. Other than our choice, we remain completely powerless. God promised a New Covenant of better promises, and God gave up everything to make that pledge a reality. Sacrificing His precious Son, God gave up Jesus – turned His back on His Son – and accepted the blood of Jesus as the adequate sacrifice, and full payment for our freedom and absolute right to choose.
Religion will always be the first to stand up and deny that such freedom exists. Religion will violently proclaim that God is in control of our lives. Odd, when you consider religion’s propensity for praising God one moment and cursing its brother with its very next breath. Obviously, God is NOT in control of our lives. God wouldn’t make such as mess as this.
Sweet and bitter water never flow from the same fountain. It may appear to be so, but it is always an illusion. We either bless, or we curse. God has set us 100 percent, absolutely, entirely, and unequivocally, FREE! Therefore, whether we bless, or whether we curse is ours to own, and the consequences fully ours to bear. God may not be blamed, included, or tagged in the “daily posts” of our life. We pour out exactly what we contain. The self-righteous may have turned a blind eye to the illusion, but the unrighteous clearly know the difference.
The children of God “always” bless. Not sometimes, not when we feel like it, and certainly not when we agree with the person we are blessing. We bless ALL people – ALWAYS! It is the authentic birthmark of God's kids.
From Lucifer’s cage of religion, we discover the contrary. The spirit of moral law speaks a curse, degrading others in the “name” of Jesus, an act that is most likely the depth of blasphemy. God’s kids bring a cup of sweet water, and religion brings the bitter. God’s children own their choice to bless, while religion attributes its right to curse on the falsehood that God is in control.
